YOU SPOKE - AMSTI and ASIM LISTENED

Based on feedback we received after the Winter C&I meetings, AMSTI and ASIM have updated requirements for requesting science instructional materials starting with the 2024-2025 school year:

 

EXISTING AMSTI and ASIM teachers (previously certified in current grade band or content area) WILL NOT be required to attend Science Foundational Training 2024 (SFT 2024) or additional content professional learning to request updated instructional materials, with the following exceptions:

• Teachers changing grade bands (K-5, 6-8, 9-12)

• Teachers changing content areas (6-8, 9-12)

 

NEW AMSTI and ASIM teachers (never attended content professional learning) WILL be required to attend SFT 2024 and then content professional learning to receive instructional materials.

 

SFT 2024 is strongly recommended, but not required for existing AMSTI and ASIM teachers before the required adoption of the 2023 ACOS: Science in August 2025.

 

K-8 science teachers will be able to request instructional materials on demand starting in August 2024 (details forthcoming). ASIM teachers will continue to utilize their regional ASIM Lesson Request form.
